Do you ever feel like no matter what you do, time is never on your side? Do you also feel like there aren’t enough hours in a day? If it makes you feel better, time is never on anyone’s side, and a lot of people, including me, also feel the same about the hours of the day not being enough, especially as a busy girl. This is where TIME MANAGEMENT becomes essential.
Time management is the act of planning or organising how you spend both your work and leisure hours to make use of them effectively. This essay/article is a guide to managing your time well and being more productive in the hands of time.
1. Set Your Goals the Right Way
Short goals: these include goals like completing your Chemistry notes or any other assignment.
Long-term goals: these could be something like learning a new language or preparing for an exam in the future.
2. Prioritising Your Tasks
Arrange your tasks to do in order of their importance. Create a to-do list with the urgent and most important tasks at the beginning, then the less demanding and easier tasks after.
This way, you know that in case anything happens, you don’t need to be worried because you would’ve completed some or all your most important tasks.
Your to-do list should be realistic, and so should the things you want to achieve.
Try not to make your list bulky, so that you don’t feel overwhelmed, and you can achieve everything on your list.
3. Design a Timetable or Schedule
Create a realistic schedule that you can follow. It should be made to fit your daily routine to make things easier for you, and to ensure that whatever you will be doing is within your ability.
Make sure to give yourself at least a 20-minute break between your tasks so that you don’t get worn out just because you want to complete your list or whatever your task may be.
Remember to be strict with your timetable and the amount of time you give yourself during your breaks.
4. Romanticise your Studying
Making your studying aesthetic is a very good way it is worthwhile and yields enough results. Being in an atmosphere and energy that you really like and are fond of is a really good way to be motivated for a very long time while studying.
Whether or not you like being recorded, try pulling out any sort of camera, i.e. on a phone, laptop or desktop, to record yourself and the amount of time you spend studying. Being on camera gives you an illusion of being in an online class or meeting, being in an exam hall, or even being on a livestream, where you must be cautious of the things you do. The video footage can be discarded after or used in case you are a vlogger or have any other type of digital diary.
Another way to romanticise studying is to play music while at it. Not just any type of music, but lyric-less music like classical music, lo-fi, ambient or nature sounds. You could also listen to binaural beats for focus during study. You can find videos on YouTube Music and playlists on Spotify and many other streaming platforms.
Note: But, if you’re someone who is easily distracted or can’t study well with music or sounds playing in your background, do not force yourself to use this method, as it is a very delicate one which is not meant for everyone, as some people work better in quiet environments while others don’t.
Lastly, making use of girly or fancy stationery like coloured pens, highlighters, coloured sticky notes, etc, is also a way to make your studying aesthetic, especially if you’re a girly girl or just like being extra [lol]. Just remember to be focused and not waste your time while at it.
Time Management is very crucial as a student to study well and enough, and also get some you-time or make time for outings and spending time with family and friends. Trying these tips out and being intentional will help you manage your time efficiently. Endeavour to do further research on more ways to manage your time effectively. No matter what you do, do not feel discouraged, do your work wholeheartedly- in due time, your hard work will pay off.
